Anri Sala: Why the Lion Roars

Sale price$173.00

'Why The Lion Roars' is video work by Anri Sala in the form of a temperature-controlled composition of feature films. After creating a list of 57 classic films, Anri Sala assigned each a temperature between -11 and +45 degrees celsius, then devised a mechanism that would enact an editing program triggered by a thermometer outside the exhibition space. As the temperature changed, so did the films, interrupting each individual narrative and provoking unplanned collisions of meaning. This publication presents extensive documentation of the work.
