Takesada Matsutani: A Matrix

One of the most important Japanese artists working today, Takesada Matsutani has developed a unique visual language of forms and materials over his five-decade career. 'A Matrix' was published on the occasion of Matsutani’s first exhibition with Hauser & Wirth, which marked the first time the artist’s work had been shown in the UK. This generously illustrated publication features never-before-seen paintings from Matsutani’s early career alongside recent organic abstractions in vinyl glue and graphite, while rare archival photos, an interview with the artist by Mizusawa Tsutomu and Inaniwa Sawako, and texts by Kate van Houten, Midori Nishizawa, and Ming Tiampo shed light on Matsutani’s storied career.
